The Spoken Word
A poetry reading held at Circa Tabac, a coffee lounge in Soho, featured a number of scheduled artists with an open mike session following. Poets appearing ranged from the noted "Beat" artist Ira Cohen to the emerging satirist Dingo Grosz: the open mike session drew a striking range of poets--some twenty read, all told. The event encapsulated the dramatic range and variety of poetry being currently written in New York and served as an interactive template for future such events in the area.
