Aziz Elhihi, a self-taught artist, was born in Meknes,
Morocco, around 1960. He has lived in Switzerland
since 1981. Since 1989, he has had numerous shows of
his paintings in Switzerland, Italy, France, Morocco,
Germany and Egypt. Venues include The United Nations
in Geneva and the Mashrabya Gallery in Cairo. He also
has staged a number of live painting performances,
some of them in collaboration with musicians and
poets. Elhihi's method painting is based in the
spontaneous expression of color, while his live
performances explore the relationship of painting to
language.
