biopicArtist Francis Hines is well-known for his large scale works which involve the process of wrapping large objects--including whole buildings, such as the Washington Square Arch--with sculptural arrangements of fabric. He also has produced free-standing and hanging sculptures. His work has been documented in numerous films, including Hines: Washington Square Arch Installation (1980) which followed Hines' transformation of the Greenwich Village landmark into an extraordinary fabric sculpture. His work is in a number of collections, including the Instituto Mexican/Norteamericano, Mexico, and the Lubbock Museum in Lubbock, Texas. Recent gallery shows include exhibitions at La Casa Verde Galeria, San Miguel de Allende, Mexico, and the Westwood Gallery, New York City.
